A few years ago, Sunset magazine featured my garden in Small Yard Makeovers . They recently re-released this special edition. It will be on newsstands until May 12th . It has lots of inspiring gardens and design ideas. One of favorite pictures is this simple collection of containers designed by Daniel Nolan. Daniel works for Flora Grubb in San Francisco. When I was in middle school, I had a Seattle Times newspaper route. On Saturday mornings, a few customers would get the first edition of the Sunday paper – called the “Bulldog”. It maximizes a small, sloping lot with numerous outdoor living spaces (we created 4 distinct outdoor rooms). It looks great all year long! The bold hardscape design and graphic, low maintenance planting are visually interesting in every season.
