SEI Goes Bulldog!
When I was in middle school, I had a Seattle Times newspaper route. On Saturday mornings, a few customers would get the first edition of the Sunday paper – called the “Bulldog”. You can imagine my surprise this morning when I went to QFC on Saturday morning to get some groceries and I saw an SEI garden on the front page of The Seattle Times’ Sunday Bulldog edition. This garden is also on the cover of and featured in this week’s Pacific NW Magazine as part of the Outdoor Livin

Canlis Discoveries!
A couple years ago, we designed and helped build the new entry to Canlis restaurant along Aurora. I was delighted to learn that taking a picture in front of the Canlis sign is a must-have memory for brides and grooms celebrating their nuptials at the restaurant. A special thanks to wedding and portrait photographer, Tara Brown , for sharing this image of the married couple, Kerry and Kevin (congrats)! To make things even more special, I discovered the Canlis brothers had t-s

Mr. Eckley Goes to Washington
Last month Scot and our in-house landscape designer Mike attended the 2015 Association of Professional Landscape Designers’ International Conference in Washington DC. As a guest speaker at the 3-day conference, Scot presented his approach to designing small outdoor spaces in Seattle, showing that within the grandeur of these

With design ideas for small living spaces and beautiful photographs of the current garden, this article gives a glimpse into the elements that make up a great SEI design.

Fire Starter
It maximizes a small, sloping lot with numerous outdoor living spaces (we created 4 distinct outdoor rooms). It looks great all year long! The bold hardscape design and graphic, low maintenance planting are visually interesting in every season.

"Tesla Line Trimmer?"
No, it’s not a Tesla, but I’m still looking forward to taking our first battery-powered line trimmer on a test drive. I am really excited by the potential of battery powered garden care equipment and replacing all of our gas-powered equipment with battery powered equipment (yes, blowers and lawn mowers too!). Beside running on a renewable resource, battery powered equipment is much quieter! I have a goal of adding solar panels to the top of each Garden Services truck, so eac
