“Gardens in Detail”

Gardens in Detail

I have a hard time picking favorite things in life.  I don’t have a favorite food, color, president or plant.  When it comes to garden books, however, I do have a favorite!  It is “Gardens in Detail " by Emma Reuss. I actually have 3 copies of this book:  one at home and two at the office – one for inspiration and reference and one to lend to clients.  The books goes into great detail analyzing 100 contemporary gardens from all around the world – but is not at all academic.  After an overview of each garden, the key elements and themes are highlighted and explained with additional pictures and text. The book is divided into 10 sections based on themes ranging from Art to World.  My favorite section is “Atmosphere" – and one of my favorite gardens from this section is this swimming pool garden by Dominique Lafourcade, completed in 2008 in St-Temy-De-Provance, France.

Bonus Trivia:  Despite not having many other favorites in life, I do have an all-time favorite book:  Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte.
